South West Wellness Symposium

The inaugural South West Wellness Symposium will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2020 in Busselton. The title for the event is “Living in Balance within Community”. The Symposium will be a full day of keynote presentations and panel discussions between 9am and 4pm focusing on four themes: living mindfully, men’s emotional health, building resilience in kids & teens, and holistic end-of-life care. Given the COVID-19 restrictions, tickets for registrants attending in person will be limited to 100. The Symposium will be also recorded and streamed live so that unlimited registrants can also attend online.

This event is being organised and run by the well-established Holistic Health Practitioner Network (HHPN Inc). The objective of HHPN Inc is to improve community health and knowledge by promoting wellness via community events, such as the South West Wellness Symposium, which bring together local holistic health practitioners and community members. HHPN Inc has previously delivered the South West Wellness Festival in Busselton in 2016, 2017 and 2018. A Festival was not possible this year due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Hence, we have transitioned to an adapted event, which we believe represents an equally valuable opportunity.

The practitioners involved in the planning of this event are:

Dr Sarah Moore (GP Obstetrician), Genevieve Morrissey (Counsellor), Karen Crutchlow (Wellness Coach), Melanie Suriani (Remedial Massage Therapist) and Valerie Frearson-Lane (Dru Yoga Teacher & Yoga Therapist). Our event manager is the dynamic Sara Warren of SW Events.

The keynote speakers for this year’s Symposium will be

·       Shannon Harvey, Health Journalist and Film-Maker, on the topic of Living Mindfully

·       Adam Przytula, Director & Owner of Armed for Life, on the topic of Building Resilience in Kids & Teens

·       Rhett Corker, WA Programs Manager & Facilator for Tomorrow Man, on the topic of Men's Health & Wellbeing

·       Claire Oberry, End of Life Doula, on the topic of Holistic End of Life Care
